The Spoiler Rating System
10-24-2006

I've decided to implement a Spoiler Rating System (SRS) to better help fans guage just how big of a spoiler they are about to read. Apparently, some fans don't think one thing is a spoiler, but others think it is. So, to be fair, we'll try to give a "rating" to the spoilers. The rating is based on the bit of info within the entire story that is the biggest spoiler. So let's say a story has basic, how-to-play-the-game info, but reveals X person is the final boss, we'll give it a high spoiler rating because it has one major spoiler.
So, the rating system will simply be:
Green = Basic gameplay info, no storyline info. Only will spoil people who don't want to know anything about the game, period.
Yellow = Some bigger gameplay info, such as new items, new dungeons or new areas. Will still contain absolutely no storyline spoilers.
Red = Contains major gameplay spoilers, and contains storyline spoilers.
Storyline spoilers are not just tidbits about the plot, but also the revelation of new characters. So let's say Nintendo reveals Vaati is the final boss of Twilight Princess, we'd mark that as Red because it's both a character revelation and storyline device.
So, here's some examples (THESE ARE MADE UP, NOT REAL, SO DON'T FREAK OUT):
Green Level Spoiler: Nintendo revealed today that if you thrust your sword into the air, Link will perform an "upthrust" in Twilight Princess.
Yellow Level Spoiler: In a new preview by IGN, it was revealed that Link will be going to not just 9 dungeons, but also 5 special temples in Twilight Princess. Not much is known about these temples exept they do not open up until you complete the first nine.
Red Level Spoiler: After spending three days with Twilight Princess, The Hylia can finally reveal that the game does indeed end with the flooding of Hyrule. Link valiantly holds off Ganondorf as he buys time for Princess Zelda to reach safety by hitching a ride with a Wyvern, and then the waves crash down on both him and Ganondorf. As the waters rise, Zelda is dropped off on a nearby mountain top. We then see Hyrule flooded, and Princess Zelda gets onto a raft and begins to sail along when she finds Link's body floating in the waves. The Hylian princess breaks into tears, no doubt filled with the guilt that yet again she's caused so much trouble in Hyrule and now Link has lost his life as a result. She departs into the horizon, herself "flooded" with grief and remorse. Roll credits.
Ok, so I overdid the last one. But that's how you should guage our rating system. Green spoilers will not ruin the experience, but if you're just gung-ho, I don't want to know jack other than the date and price, then you'll want to avoid even these. Yellow is for those who don't want any type of gameplay surprises ruined in addition to the storyline. But if all you care about are storyline spoilers, then Red is the level you want to avoid. If you want the game ruined, by all means read Red level spoilers.
However, I take spoilers seriously, and Red level spoilers are only going to be used in the case of a leak for now. If there is a major leak on a site, we'll not only report that leak, but warn fans that if they go to that site, they risk a major spoiler. We'll also ensure that NO SPOILERS are posted in the message boards to the best of our abilities. Once the game is released on November 19th, Red level spoilers will shift to info we will be revealing. I will do my best to not give out too much, but if somebody on day 1 reveals the ending, then it's sort of a moot point and I wouldn't have any issues posting a video of the ending (though still marked for spoilers).
Oh yeah! All of the videos we make will aslo, for the time being, contain spoiler warnings with the level of spoilers at the start. That way, if somebody tries to trick you into watching it, you'll have a heads up. I hope this system is good enough to keep many of you coming here without fear of having Twilight Princess ruined.
